SGN Golf Simulator Business
This past weekend my brother and I played simulator golf at SGN Golf, located in Mason, Ohio. They offer private hitting bays with TVs and seating up to 5 players. Two of their bays have additional cameras and software for Golf Professional to offer lessons. They use E6 gaming software which has plenty of fun courses to choose from and mini games such as closest to the pin and longest drive.
I met with the owners, Drew and David, about offering golf lessons at their facility. We came up with some fun ideas like tournaments, leagues, and of course private lessons. They gave me some credits to test out lessons, so if anyone is interested in testing out a golf lesson at their facility please let me know.
Simulators are becoming a lot more popular, especially in the Midwest. Winter in Ohio is no fun for golfers! For players that want to continue training over the winter months, in a comfortable environment, indoor facilities like SGN offer a fun opportunity to work on your game and play golf.
My main focus will still be on playing with students as much as possible this year on the real golf course, but it's possible that one day per week I may do lessons or tournaments using their simulators, before I go out on the real golf course in the afternoon. This is only possible with enough interest from my players. They're going to advertise my services at their location too so if that brings in enough business, I'll make more time to teach there.
Useful lessons on a simulator include:
Gapping Sessions: figure out distances
Swing Data: Club Head Speed, Club Path, Club Angle, Launch Angle, Spin, etc.
Playing Virtual Holes: towards the end of lessons, playing a couple holes to test out situations.
Fun Contests.
There's a lot we can do on a simulator but it will never eliminate the ultimate goal of playing on the golf course. I won't give up time outside on a course for simulator golf. With that said, it's an opportunity for my business to grow if there's interest, especially in the winter months.
If anyone is interested in any more details or would like to meet at their facility in Mason, please reach out!
Thank you,
Zach
