Feel Your Swing
If you have played other sports, you should understand how important "feel" really is for success. If you're running down the basketball court on a fast break and you're going to perform a layup to score, you know you have to feel the speed that you're running so you don't fall over or go too slow and get caught. You also have to feel how much energy to jump with and how much to release the ball into the basket. The feel of a layup is different than a feel of shooting a free throw. If you can't feel the difference between the two, you wouldn't be a very good basketball player. If you are thinking too much, instead of trusting the feels you have ingrained through practice, mistakes are bound to happen.
